Continued from last week … In Ephesians 6:14-20 the apostle Paul details the various pieces of armour we need to wear that will be the strength of the Lord in our lives. Paul told us that we need every piece of armour to be able to stand. Therefore, each piece of armour that we read about, is Paul telling us the tool God uses to strengthen our lives to stand in the evil day. In Ephesians 6:14 we are told to gird our loins with truth. When Jesus prayed to God in John 17:17, He asked: “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.” In Psalm 19:7-10 David writes: The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Truth is found in Jesus and His words. Jesus and His words are the standard for what is truth. In John 18:37 we read: Therefore, Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Are we of the truth? Do we hear His voice? Are we clinging to the truth? Is truth tied around our waist like a belt?
