Forty-eight—Hours Inspection Notice

Forty-eight—Hours Inspection Notice

One day Jesus sent out a “48 Hours Inspection Notice” to all Christians. He said that he was coming to inspect the homes in which his Holy Spirit dwells. Immediately, you are excited at the news. An occasion to dress up a little, bring out the fine China tea set and bake fresh biscuits. But then you notice the dirt and the clutter. On closer inspection it becomes obvious that things seem tired and neglected. So, you go to work cleaning up and fixing up. Jesus arrives for his inspection, looks around, compliments your fashion choice, and speaks highly of your morning tea and home baking. He thanks you for the chat and bids you farewell. You wave goodbye and go slump down in your chair, relieved that its all over. Its then you notice the envelop sticking out of the huge King James Family Bible you especially laid out on the coffee table. It contains a brief message: “To you my tenant: Thank you for your hospitality. You have a lovely home. But my Holy Spirit does not live and work in houses that will one day burn up—He lives in your heart and works through your body. After inspecting your heart and your body, I suggest you apply the same effort to cleaning up the dirt and clutter of sin and fixing up your tired and neglected talents. And check out that Bible—It’s the Holy Spirit’s perfect instruction book for hearts, bodies and churches. (P.S. This is a ‘48 Hours Re-Inspection Notice.’ See you in two days.)”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20—You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit who is in you. You have received the Holy Spirit from God. So you do not belong to yourselves, because you were bought by God for a price. So honour God with your bodies.
