“Get Back to the Square!”
We meet people where they are. We are heralds, calling all to look to Jesus—The Truth. The world is the Christian’s ‘Town Square.’Satan is there, too. He and his demons have set up their platforms. Watching, waiting, making counter claims. Rejecting Jesus is not always saying, ‘No!’ Instead, simpler offers are made, like: “You can have Jesus, and nothing needs to change.” Christians can easily be tempted to read from the same script. When Jesus is rejected as the sole embodiment of truth in our eyes, we lose direction. Emptiness fills our lives, and we are set adrift on that sea of hopelessness. Most don’t think of themselves as being without hope, they live in denial and rebellion, even though their hearts cry out for it. Satan knows this game; he invented it.Christian, beware! Satan has a specifically crafted role for you to play in his unholy charade. He makes you the hero of your own ‘Jesus and Me Show.’ You are free to choose the actors and the script. “Never!” you say. Many sign up. They pay dearly for tickets to see their own demise. Their famous last words are all the same: “That’s not me up there!”Even fanatics have their place on Satan’s stage. But fanatics are often conviction driven. The apostle Paul is the most famous ‘fanatic’ who, when his convictions were challenged by the One that he sought to destroy, he changed. Paul broke his satanic contract.Satan prefers ‘lukewarm’ actors. Those feigning weakness and victimhood at every hint of judgement. Ad-libbing is welcomed.Christian, you must stand firm and survey the ‘The Town Square.’ Here you live and interact with others. Ever exposing Satan’s offers to false glory. Opening the eyes of the passer-by to the trickery of evil. Today is a day of great confusion and frustration for many of God’s Town Criers. Many want to leave their platforms of influence. I would like to suggest that if there are other platforms of influence on which to herald the name of the Christ, then ‘Go and speak a good word for Jesus.’But for those of you who are thinking about just giving up and going home…“Get back to the Square!”John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
