To the Work #8. “What am I teaching?”

To the Work #8. “What am I teaching?”

Years ago, I attended the funeral of a great woman of God. Certain family members encouraged her grandchildren to write notes on her coffin (something I had never seen before, nor have I seen since). One of her sons, a man of God, was praising what was happening…until he saw one of the children writing out a verse from a book that one particular cult counts as “scripture.” He did not say anything to the family at the time, but later in private he spoke what I knew to be the truth. He said, “Mum would not have wanted that. She believed in nothing but the Bible!”

Sadly, if it wasn’t for the fact that the child had added the book, chapter, and verse reference to that “scripture,” many Bible believing Christians may have considered that it was actually a Bible verse.

I have often said, “Reading the Bible over and over does not guarantee that you will know everything in it, but it will give you a very good idea of what is NOT in it.”

If all Christians had to line up to demonstrate their Bible knowledge, how would we do? I wonder who the devil and his demons would place their bets on? ME? No, I think that they would have more sense than that. But a more revealing question is: “Would I even get to the starting gates?

Biblical ignorance is the Churches’ White Flag. The less we know about the Bible, the more likely we are to surrender to the lies of the devil.

Despite what some believe, God is not cheering on churches that either make up their own “scriptures” or distort those handed down to us by the apostles and prophets. We are surrounded by the untruths of denominationalism and the irrational denials of atheism, and the only way to separate ourselves from these is to know the truth of the Bible and to apply it.

“What am I teaching?” That is a very good question.
