“Watch over your heart with all diligence,For from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
The Great Wall of China was built to keep out invaders from the north. Interestingly, within its first 100 years, it proved to be a miserable failure at doing so. One imagines thousands of men with grappling hooks and pickaxes being pelted from a great height as they strove to breach the Wall. But not so!In fact, on no less than 3 occasions the invading armies casually walked through open gates. They had simply bribed the guards. Faithfulness and vigilance are vital to security. Remove one, and the other will be overrun.Your heart must be protected above all else. The heart stands for your ‘mind,’ your ‘emotions,’ and your ‘whole inner being.’Therein you collect, store, and protect that which is most precious to you. From it can pour only that which is within. How can you know the quality of that which fills your heart? According the Jesus you know what fills your heart by owning up to that which fills your speech. You must do guard duty with clipboard in hand. What goes in, and what comes out, are known and noted. It is up to you to fill your heart with the transforming words and works of Christ. It is vigilance that keeps the devil out. It is in Christian service that you will see the outpouring of your Christlike spirit. The Life within will be the Life that comes out.John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
