“Hatred stirs up strife,But love covers all sins” (Proverbs 10:12).

Hatred is seldom admitted to. It is sometimes deeply hidden, and sometimes sitting just below the surface.But it will eventually show itself for what it is. It takes little added offence for a heart brimming with malice to overflow.Whether it be with quiet and subtle prods, or open provocations, the hater will confront. Soon come the accusations, the threats, and the regurgitation of historical irritations.Never can they be wrong. Their version of ‘truth’ is verified by emotional outbursts designed to solidify their victimhood.Left to itself hatred will destroy everything it touches. Churches, families, friendships and businesses are flattened in its shockwave. Love is the only cure. Christ’s love for you and I is pushed to the front to confront the sins of the troublemaker. Love exists on its own plain. Christ’s love is the greater power. With it we overcome evil with good.Love ‘bears all things’ (1Cor.13:7). Love ‘abandons the quarrel before it breaks out’ (Pro.17:4).Love is in a man who is slow to anger. He will calm a dispute (Pro.15:18). Love looks to the 70×70 opportunities to forgive (Mt.18:22).Love remembers the small debt of sins of our brother compared to our great debt forgiven by God (Mt.18:23-35).Love ‘turns a sinner from the error of his way and will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins’ (Jm.5:20).In Christ our starting point with everyone is this: “Since we want the best for them, we assume the best about them.
