This amazingly honest announcement was made by The Atheists in Kenya society in May 2021:
“This evening, regretfully, our Secretary Mr. Seth Mahiga made the decision to resign from his position as Secretary of our society. Seth’s reason for resigning is that he has found Jesus Christ and is no longer interested in promoting atheism in Kenya. We wish Seth all the best in his newfound relationship with Jesus Christ. We thank him for having served the society with dedication over the last one and a half years.”
Contrast Seth Mahiga’s response to the Truth of Jesus with Pilate’s response.
Pilate’s cynical retort, “What is truth?” screams of a man ignoring the Truth in his very presence for the threats of an uncompromising and evil world outside. Nothing has changed in 2000 years.
For Pilate to accept that Jesus was the sole voice of truth meant that he had to change sides; that he was not going to do. He hadn’t become a Roman Governor without a firm grip on political reality. He understood well the simple rule for survival and advancement: Cling to Caesar alone!
Everyone picks a side: Jesus or Satan…truth or lies…for Jesus or against Jesus…the church or the world—there’s no third option. One day there will be a judgement exposing our choices. There will be the division of the sheep and the goats…the wheat and the tares…the good fish and those castaway—it’s one side or the other!
Jesus is not calling us to a list of “dos and don’ts,” he is calling us to a man, “Himself”—the embodiment of Truth.
When we find Jesus, we are no longer interested in promoting Satan and his evil ways.
As Jesus told Pilate: “Everyone on the side of truth listens to me”
