Pray, then, in this way:“
Jesus first and foremost directs our minds to our divine Father’s dwelling place. He who made everything without help or advice from anyone on this planet on which we walk or, for that matter, anyone within the confines of the unbelievably vast night sky above us. One marvels at the efforts made by man to travel beyond our atmosphere, but we are humbled by how minuscule a distance it is when measured against the staggering size of all that is beyond us.Our prayers are to be addressed to the One who is outside of our reference points; be they physical, mental, or spiritual. Man makes ‘gods’ after his own image. ‘Gods’ that often justify the basest of human lusts and desires. Our Father in heaven ‘so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life’ (Jn.3:16).Jesus, The Son of God redeemed us. This act of grace made us his brothers and sisters by means of adoption (Gal.4:5).You are now part of the heavenly family. How close a family are we? So close that “because you are sons [and daughters], God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” (Gal.4:6). You don’t get closer than that!Too many Christians pray ‘Orphan Prayers.’ Like Oliver Twist they hold up their empty bowls and say, “Please sir, can I have some more.” What kind of preaching brings us to this hopeless state? Its preaching that deceives us into believing that God is confined to the forces of this world. No wonder our prayers are fraught with the stagnating miseries of doubt. When the power and potential of God is measured by that which is created, He ceases to be above it. Thus, he ceases to be “Our Father in heaven.”Pray with me: “Our Father in heaven, lift the eyes of our hearts to seek out the wonders of Your eternal presence. Thank you that you have sent Jesus, our Brother, who is the Way.” John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends. (318)
