Perspective—It’s how you see it!
In the pre-internet days, there was a boy and a girl who grew up as neighbours. Finally, he went West seeking his fortune, and she went East. Both mothers devoured the incoming letters and bragged about how well their darling child was going. One day each received mail. One beamed with glee. She said, “My daughter has found love. She has met and married the greatest man on earth. He brings her breakfast in bed every morning, washes the dishes, cleans the apartment and discusses every detail of his day before he leaves for work.” The other looked grim. She said, “Lucky her! My son THINKS he has found love. He has met and married the laziest girl in the world. She expects breakfast in bed every morning, makes him to do the dishes, doesn’t lift a finger to clean up the apartment and demands every detail of his day before he even leaves for work.”Perspective does matter. Especially when seeking to protect that which is nearest and dearest to you.Jesus thought nothing of challenging every man’s beliefs and customs. He didn’t care if a dishonest man was offended to hear that to swear by one part of the temple over another still made him a liar. He didn’t care if a priest was offended to hear that kicking a widow out of her family home because it had been willed to the ‘temple’ was a stonable offense under the fifth Commandment. He DID care to make sure that the repentant tax-collectors and prostitutes knew that they would enter the kingdom of heaven before the disobedient churchgoers of his day. The poet was right when he said, “Truth is a wall that you can’t break down, and it won’t be laughed away.”Jesus put it better: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Satan’s lies will cloud your perspective of all things—if you let them!Being open to discussion is vital. But more than that, you must be challenged by, and informed of, the truth by ‘The Master,’ Himself. Then we will be ‘Free indeed!’John StaigerIf you have been blessed by this message, please feel free to: Like, Comment or Share it with your friends.
